In valuation, industry experience is everything

Our CEO, Mr. Justin Sollitt, is Genco Valuation's principal rare book and ephemera valuer.  He is one of only a few specialists in this field in Australasia and is frequently consulted.

Beyond Genco, Justin co-founded in 2014 one of the most prominent rare book and ephemera dealerships in New Zealand, that successfully ships to customers throughout New Zealand and across 42 countries.

Justin is a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ) that regulates all non-land and building asset valuers.

NEED TO KNOW

The reality with insurance. Universally, there is one consistency with home contents insurance: cars, boats and electronics are over-insured—while jewellery, art, and premium collectables are under-insured.

1. Specialised asset treatment: Private book and ephemera collections need to be treated the same as fine art and jewellery, where they should never be just assumed as covered by default under a general home contents insurance.

2. Independent valuation: Even when a collection is itemised on a standard contents policy, insurers will normally require an independent industry accredited valuation to substantiate any claim filed above the policy's nominal upper limit.
