Our History

• 2003
  Genco Energy evolved from a separate business specialising in design/build construction and project management in New Zealand.
• 2006
  The founders/principals were called on to provide project and construction management support for a power project in North Western Australia.
• 2007
  Emanating from the project success in North Western Australia, Genco Energy Ltd was incorporated in May 2007, and the business expanded into power project development.
• 2010
  Genco Energy Ltd separates its businesses of power project development and project management with the formation of Genco Project Management Ltd.
• 2011
  Genco Project Management Ltd establishes a project office in Perth, Western Australia.
• 2011
  Gengear Ltd was established as a specialist power-gen equipment trading and brokerage business to support Genco Energy projects.
• 2013
  PT. Genco Energi Indonesia was established in Jakarta, Indonesia, with local country managers/partners.
• 2013
  Genco Energy commences pursuing projects in Botswana and Nigeria. 
• 2013
  Genco Energy shifts its headquarters to Mauritius to be more central to its African and Indonesian customers. Genco Energy (Mauritius) Ltd is established in Ebene, Cybercity, Mauritius.
• 2014
  Genco Energy (Mauritius) Ltd establishes a subsidiary Genco Power Nigeria Ltd in Lagos, Nigeria with local country managers/partners.
• 2015
  Genco Project Management Ltd establishes a project office in Melbourne, Australia.
• 2016
  A new holding company Genco Energy Group Ltd is established and relocates Genco Energy headquarters back to Auckland, New Zealand.
• 2021
  Genco Energy Group Ltd establishes a project development subsidiary Genco Energy Holdings Pty Ltd in Sydney, Australia with local country managers/partners.
• 2023
  Genco Energy Group Ltd acquires 100% of subsidiary Genco Energy Holdings Pty Ltd.
• 2025
  Genco Energy Group joins forces with Perth-based legacy firm Barclay Engineering, establishing 'Barclay Genco Alliance' (BG Alliance Pty Ltd), after a 20-year project association.
• 2026
  Genco Energy Group Ltd acquires 100% of New Zealand legacy aviation brokerage and valuation company Southern Aircraft Sales Ltd and renames it Genco Valuation Ltd.
